| 1-30:
International Customer Loyalty Month. It’s a simple equation:
If they’re not loyal, you ultimately don’t survive. Contact your
counselor to start a long-term program designed to keep customers
coming back.
1: National Pet First-Aid
Awareness Month. Hey, they need to be kept out of harm’s way,
too. Many, after all are an investment.
4-10: Hate Week. Not in the
traditional use of the word, but, derived from Orwell’s 1984, a
week to fight against “Big Brother” – the continuing erosion
of privacy and individualism in our business and personal lives.
7: No Housework Day. A day for
a deserved break from laundry, cleaning, washing dishes, cooking,
sewing, etc. Neat tie-in for restaurants, movies, stores, clubs,
etc. Today’s also World Health Day.
15: Thomas Hart Benton: Birthday. American
painter considered a founder of regionalism, a truly American art
form.
17: Blah Blah Blah Day. A day
to finally do something you’ve been talking about for a long time,
but haven’t acted on. Could be home- or work-related, trivial or
important. Lots of opportunities here.
18: National Teach Children To
Save Day. The way things are going economically, it’s never
too early. Great for banks, stockbrokers, etc.
20-26: Administrative
Professionals Week. A deserved tribute to all those assistants
who handle the details while their bosses get the spotlight.
Florists, restaurants, resorts, etc., can benefit.
23: First Movie Theatre
Anniversary. The first film showing outside of a flicker machine
occurred today, 1896, at Koster & Bials Music Hall, New York.
And look how the concept’s grown. Film studios, theatres, video
stores, etc., take note.
26: National Arbor Day.
Considering the many devastating forest fires last year, an
especially good day to sponsor a tree planting or 20, and gain
invaluable PR while doing so.
29: Edward Kennedy and “Duke”
Ellington: Birthday. Along with Louis Armstrong, he redefined
jazz, and music as a whole, forever. Cool tie-in for radio stations,
record stores, etc.
30: National Honesty Day. Devoted
to complete honesty with everyone – employees, employers, friends
and family. |
