National AIDS Awareness Month. 2004
marks the 21st year since HIV was discovered as the virus that
causes AIDS in humans, but a cure has yet to be found. Consequently,
it remains important for government agencies, hospitals, doctors,
clinics, insurance companies, schools, social groups, community
centers and others to continue to spread awareness of the disease
and educate the public. TV and radio stations, sports teams, entertainers
and other public figures can participate in campaigns, too.
National Healthy Skin Month. Wait,
don’t
put that sunscreen away yet. Just because summer’s over doesn’t
mean we’re safe from the harmful effects of the sun. Your
company can help spread awareness of the importance of proper skin
care with logoed bottles of sunscreen and lip balm, or shade-producing
hats, caps and umbrellas. It’s also a good excuse to go a
bit further and pamper the skin with moisturizing lotions, bath
bubbles and salts, loofahs, etc.
Sleep Comfort Month. There’s nothing quite
like a good night’s sleep. Make sure your clients and employees
are getting the most out of their sleep time by giving them products
to add to their comfort. Think eye masks, relaxation tapes and
CDs, bubble bath, comfy PJs – anything that will help people
relax and get a better night’s sleep.
November 15: America Recycles Day. More
than 230 million tons of municipal solid waste is generated by
the United
States each year. That’s more than four pounds of trash per
person per day. But, through recycling programs, 64 million tons
of that trash is reclaimed for reuse each year. Help people do
their part by creating campaigns that use recycled products or
that remind people to reduce, reuse, recycle.
November 14-20: American Education Week. Here’s
a week to recognize all the important elements that make up the
educational system – students, teachers, aides, administrators,
clergy, coaches, parents and organizations. Posters, banners, wearables,
pens, pencils, rulers, notebooks, bookbags and more can help schools
and their students celebrate this week.
November 21-27: National Game And Puzzle Week. Games
and puzzles aren’t just for kids; they can add a fun, interactive
element to promotions for any age group. Hundreds of different
games and puzzles are available to put your logo on, including
classics such as jigsaw puzzles, tic-tac-toe, dominoes and chess,
along with portable video games and executive desktop mini games
of darts and basketball. Use them to spark creativity during business
meetings, as welcome relief or distraction during particularly
stressful deadlines.
November 30: Computer Security Day. While
it’s
always important for people to make sure their computers – including
their personal and work information – are safe, Computer
Security Day is a good time to reinforce the issue. Use today to
remind employees of security basics or introduce them to new programs
or procedures. Computer/electronics stores, software makers, schools
and other computer-related industries can also reach out to consumers.
