The Promotional Idea Showcase - Summer 2003 - Updated Quarterly

Promotional Planning Calendar

OCTOBER

1-31: Co-Op Awareness, Diversity Awareness, Alternate History, National Cookie, Crime Prevention and Car Care Month. An incredible array of promotional ideas here.

3: National Denim Day. Nice tie-in promo for any firm. Employees can wear jeans today in exchange for a $5 donation toward breast cancer research.

8: Great Chicago Fire Anniversary. On this day, 1871, 250 were killed, 98,000 left homeless and 17,450 buildings destroyed. Natural tie-in for the week. Ironically, the entire town of Peshtigo, WI, burned down the very same day, killing over 1,100.

10: World Egg Day. Recognizing the international appeal of the lowly egg, and the many ways it’s used in our culinary arts

12-18: Home-Based Business Week. True, your firm might not be a home-based business, but how many of your customers are? A day to recognize entrepreneurial spirit. Imprinted office products might be a good link, especially from office-product retailers.

16: World Food Day. To boost awareness of and action against hunger everywhere. Once more, any company can participate – food drives, gifts (employees and community) for donations, etc.

20-28: World Rainforest Week. Another near-universally accepted cause. In other words, hard to go wrong.

25: United Nations Day. The organization was founded today, 1945.

28: Statue Of Liberty Dedication Anniversary. With world situations as they are today, a day to remember not only the fact that the Lady was a gift from France, dedicated on this day, 1886, but to celebrate what she’s stood for, for the past 117 years.

31: National Knock-Knock Day. Have fun on Halloween with office joke contests (keep it clean!) and logoed prizes.
