Phone Cards Score As Service Enhancements
The
Volusia/Flagler County, FL News-Journal wanted to increase its subscriber base, as well as provide an incentive for existing subscribers to renew. To do so, the paper used a 20-minute prepaid phone card that targeted current and prospective subscribers. The custom cards were imprinted with the image of a rolled-up newspaper; the paper’s name; its motto, “Start every newsday with the News-Journal” and the location/phone number of its four branch offices. Anyone agreeing to an additional 13-week subscription was sent a letter expressing the paper’s appreciation and enclosing the card. Additionally, the card has been used successfully as a small gift to any customers with complaints about their subscription.
