PROMOTIONAL PLANNING CALENDAR NOVEMBER 3: Blue Moon. The very same of “once in a ...” fame. (Actually, it’s the rarely occurring second full moon in a single month.) Excellent advertising opportunity for anything with a limited-time theme. 3: Cliché Day. The idea is to use as many as possible for a 24-hour period. Promos can be launched by record stores, music shops, radio stations, nightclubs, etc. 8-14: Pursuit Of Happiness Week. As noted in the Declaration of Independence. Nearly any company or organization can take part, perhaps using a “What makes you happy?” themed promotion. 14: Blood Transfusion Anniversary. #1 occurred in 1666, performed by a Dr. Croone. Tremendous promo-opp for hospitals, blood banks, clinics and offices sponsoring blood drives. 20: Name Your PC Day. People name their houses, boats and cars, after all, so what the hell. Neat fun idea for anything even remotely computer related. Just remember to keep it clean! 23: Boris Karloff: Birthday. Probably the best-known horror actor of all time. Anything with a “monster” theme (sale, price reduction, etc.) could piggyback on this one. 25: Shopping Reminder Day.
