The Promotional Idea Showcase - Spring 2001 - Updated Quarterly

PROMOTIONAL PLANNING CALENDAR

AUGUST

1-31: National Inventors’ Month. The media will be full of stories of how creativity, imagination and know-how has changed our lives. Pattern some promos around inventors. You can’t get much better goodwill than sponsoring a science project.

4: Louis Armstrong: Birthday.  Or maybe not. Born either 1900 or 1901, the gravely voiced trumpeter died in 1971, but not before transforming jazz forever.

7: National Night Out. A night where citizens strengthen their ties with law enforcement in outdoor events. Give out an imprinted whistle, personal alarm or one of the many other crime-prevention
promotional products.

12: Cecil B. DeMille: Birthday. Perhaps Hollywood’s best-known director, known for his huge-scale epics. Excellent tie-in for film theaters, video stores, video manufacturers, cable TV stations and more.

12-18: National Buckle-Up Week. Sponsored by Volvo, a time to celebrate automobile safety. Your counselor can set you up with many imprinted car products.

25-31: Be Kind To Humankind Week. Every day there’s a different topic, including Motorist Consideration Monday and Forgive Your Foe Friday. A good time for a fundraiser.

31: Maria Montessori: Birthday. Schools bearing her name are everywhere. And her child-based way of teaching is influential way beyond them. Super opportunity to think about school-based promotions, considering that everyone will be starting back soon.
