MAKING FRIENDS WITH AIRPORT SECURITY ... With airport security regarding luggage changing, it seems, every few months, there seems to be one constant – our bags need to be far more accessible to security searches. As a result, there’s been a marked increase on single-use fasteners that take the place of a padlock because they can be cut off whenever necessary. “Prestolocks” function almost exactly as a padlock, allowing bags (or anything else) to be closed or simply ID’d.
Of plastic and plastic/metal, they quickly snap shut and remain so until they’re cut off. In a number of colors, sizes and styles.

Always There When Needed ... Things like lip balm, sunscreen or hand-sanitizing gel have become almost necessary conveniences. Problem is, it isn’t always convenient to keep digging in one’s pocket or purse to retrieve them. Check out “Leashables.” The line consists of lip balm, sunscreen or Purell hand sanitizer, each wrapped in a foam sleeve which in turn features a clip that lets the item be attached to a belt loop, bag handle or anywhere else needed. And, naturally, they’re
imprintable.

Throw A Little Light on the MAGNIFICATION ...
No problem. The “Look-Lite” is what some of us over 40 may call a blessing, those younger would call a convenience. The concept is simple – take a basic pocket LED light, always handy to help you find keyholes, dropped change/pills/whatever, or points on a map. Then combine it with a magnifying glass so those of us whose eyes aren’t what they used to be can check out those map-points that much better. The magnifier (4x or 10x) flips out at the touch of a button, and the batteries last an average of 100 hours. A belt clip keeps it within reach. In four colors plus black.

Nesting instinct, EVERYONE’S COLLECTING ’EM ... Matryoshka – those Russian nesting dolls with one smaller inside the other – have been around for at least a century,
and probably more. Traditionally crafted from laquered wood, they’ve depicted everything from dolls in regional dress to world leaders. This version, however, might be called the millennium edition of
matryoshka. Using the ages-old principle, these nesting dolls aren’t made of wood, but molded plastic. The result is a more durable, less costly product that can be made in almost any form desired – a sports team mascot, for example.

The Tao Of Tee-Offs?... We’ve all heard that, if taken seriously and loyally adhered to, Zen is supposed to have a calming effect on life-fried nerves. About 10 years ago, desktop-size Zen gardens began appearing, offering a literal way for one to play in life’s sandbox, as it were, yet remain completely professional. Almost surprising it took so long for some bright mind to develop “Zen Golf” for desktops. Each represents a single hole on the Course of Life (isn’t that near Pebble Beach?), and comes complete with sand, a putting green, chromed mini-putter and sand wedge, three gold balls, pin with removeable cup, polished river stones, raking tools and even a Zen CD. Definitely memorable.

That Tingly Feeling ... When you first see it, “Ting Ting” looks like something you’d be nearly certain to see in any grade-B horror or sci-fi film made anytime between say, 1953 and 1967. At some point, it would start glowing and/or come to life, killing the poor soul hapless enough to stumble upon it. Fortunately, movies today have much better special effects, meaning that Ting Ting must have another purpose. It does – it’s a serious battery-operated massager for the scalp as well as tired, aching joints. The all-copper legs promote better circulation and conductivity. To use, simply press or lightly wrap the legs around the affected body part, press the button, and enjoy. Great after a round of Zen golf.

Small And Mighty ... A couple of high-tech mini-marvels that make for unusual imprinted products. First is the “Super Mini” optical mouse. It functions just like a standard-size computer mouse, but it’s only an inch wide and two-and-a-half inches long. Its compact size makes it perfect for laptops, but it can be hooked up to a standard-size desktop, too. The other item, “Tote-Remote” makes presentations using laptops less fatiguing. The unit allows control of several applications, including Word and PowerPoint, from up to 30 feet away, meaning those constant trips up and back to the computer are essentially over. Both take a good, clean imprint.

Nothing Fishy ... At one time or another, every cartoon cat in existence – Top, Felix,
Krazy, Sylvester, et al – has either pulled one of these out of a garbage can or had one served to him or her by a human, another cat or dog. This version of the classic fish skeleton, however, is rendered in far more colorful, durable and less odorous plastic. Its purpose? A very cool-looking CD holder. Each unit holds 10 CDs, in several eye-catching colors.
