The Promotional Idea Showcase - Fall 2000 - Updated Quarterly

Promotional planning calendar

FEBRUARY

1-28: Celebration Of Chocolate. A whole month dedicated to the candy that seems to intoxicate everybody. Chocolate can be custom-molded into a surprisingly varied assortment of logoed items, and several chocolate-scented products are available as well.
10-16. Resurrect Romance Week. Seven days dedicated to re-igniting the spark. Possibilities are endless: dating services, hotels, restaurants, candy shops, card shops, bookstores (poetry), record stores (romantic music), fragrance sellers, lingerie shops and more.
23. Samuel Pepys: Birthday. Easily the best-known diarist in literature. Good day to promote, using logoed diaries and/or pens.
28: Floral Design Day. Acknowledging flowers as a true art form. Logoed vases, anyone?

2: Groundhog Day. We all know what happens in Punxsutawney, PA, but there’s no reason your city, town or business can’t hold its own version, using a different creature (Rabbit? Mouse? Eagle? Co-Worker?).
6. Robert Nesta Marley: Birthday. The person perhaps most responsible for making reggae music known on an international scale, Bob Marley and his music remain hugely popular today. Radio stations, record shops, libraries, etc., can mark the event.
18: Pluto Discovery Anniversary. The ninth and coldest planet – and namesake for Mickey’s dog – was first seen today, 1930.
26. For Pete’s Sake Day. More pure fun. A day to ponder two burning questions: 1) Who, exactly, is Pete? and 2) Why are things done (or not done) for his sake? Promo possibilities limited only by your imagination.
