The Promotional Idea Showcase - Summer 2002 - Updated Quarterly

Promotional Planning Calendar

October

1-31: Eat Better, Eat Together Month. Touting the idea of families and couples not only eating healthier but eating together to discuss things. Good promo-op for restaurants, supermarkets, health-food stores, cookbook publishers, bookstores and way more.
9: Bring Your Teddy Bear to Work Day. Recognizing the stress relief teddies have brought millions over the years. Perhaps a contest with imprinted prizes or even logoed bears would be a good choice.
22: National Color Day. Dedicated to raising awareness of how our names are color-coded, and how color can influence our feelings. Virtually any firm can participate and product can be used — provided it’s the proper hue.
2: Custodial Workers’ Day. Where would any business (or apartment building, or museum, or...) be without them? A day to express your appreciation.

16: Boss Day. On the surface, a day for employees to recognize the boss. But since, at most firms, the customers are the real boss, this can allow for all sorts of unexpected promo possibilities.

20: Reptile Awareness Day. A day to understand that lizards, snakes, alligators and the rest of the reptiles sharing the planet with us aren’t all bad. Far-left base for a promo launch, maybe using a plush reptile as one of the elements.
30: Charles Atlas: Birthday. Near-legendary body-builder and mail-order marketer, he immortalized the 97-pound weakling. Cool promo-op for fitness programs, health-food stores, gyms, sporting-goods sellers/makers, etc.
