The Promotional Idea Showcase - Summer 2000 - Updated Quarterly

Promotional Planning Calendar

September

1-30: National Childhood Injury Prevention Month. Any business can be involved via seminars, sponsorships, programs, etc., using safety-geared devices like reflectors, pads, etc.

1-30: Library Card Sign-Up Month. Encourage what’s becoming a lost art – recreational reading. Bookmarks, book covers, card wallets and even books can all be employed.

3: Treaty Of Paris Anniversary. Instead of July 4th, why not celebrate the day the Revolution ended, in 1783? The same types of products can be logoed, with appropriate copy.

5: Be Late For Something Day. Ease the stress that makes us slaves to time. A neat idea for a fun promo, perhaps with watches/clocks deliberately set later than real time, or a “be late” contest with prizes like calendars.

10-16: National 5-a-Day Week. Saluting all learners, from kindergarten to professional school. Once selecting a level, schools and sponsoring firms (academic publishers, bookstores, computer firms, etc.) can make use of imprinted travel mugs, backpacks, crayons, computer accessories, notepads, desk lamps, pens, rulers ... anything a student can use.

24-30: National Dog Week. A time to recognize our canine buds and encourage their proper care. Vets, animal hospitals, pet shops, supply stores/makers, dog food manufacturers, kennels, breeders etc., can be included. Products can include logoed dishes, leashes, toys, manuals and so on.

21:30: Gutenberg Bible Anniversary A literary landmark; the first section of the first book ever produced from moveable type appeared today in 1452. Publishers, libraries, bookstores and more can celebrate the beginning of what made the printed word available to everyone.
