np1.jpg (29398 bytes)Should Rum And French Vanilla Get All The Fun? ... Not that there’s anything wrong with them, but it seems like almost every time you run into flavored premium cigars, they’re one of those two. Seeking a little diversity for clients? These Dominican handmade beauties are liberally “spiked” with genuine Maker’s Mark premium bourbon. They’re packed in individual glass tubes, hand-dipped in the bourbon’s signature red wax, and ready to be customized. Clients don’t smoke? No problem. Maker’s Mark-laced chocolates, gourmet cooking sauce and coffee beans are also available!

np3.jpg (11346 bytes)Read On The Fly ... Here’s a very cool variation on a product that’s remained virtually unchanged for almost 40 years – the plastic flying disc. Operationally speaking, the E*Writer is just like any other disc – hold it horizontally, throw it, and watch it sail off. The “but” part is a single row of flashing LED lights that (with a little help from microprocessor technology) actually spell out a clearly visible message – from any angle – when the unit is in motion. The whole unit weighs only 200 grams and is 101/2 inches across. There’s an on/off switch to save batteries, too. In several colors.

np2.jpg (13566 bytes)Hold ’Em With Panache ... CD-ROMs are increasingly becoming an everyday part of office life. Many people simply pile them on their desks or toss them in a drawer. Why not go for a decorative touch? These translucent cases hold six CDs in a handy spring-powered format; when the top is pulled off, the bottom portion – which incorporates the holder – instantly fans out, allowing easy access to whatever disc is needed. Closed, the whole unit takes up less space than a short stack of jewel boxes, and the design fits in anywhere. In a whole rainbow of colors, too.

np4.jpg (23111 bytes)Welcome Addition ... There are all sorts of computer screen cleaners out there. Most work pretty well. A little lower, however, is usually another matter. Dust, grit, food crumbs (you know they’re there), stray hairs and other similar gunk can combine to make a computer keyboard downright grimy. Enter “XSponge.” It looks and feels like a funky version of its name, but it’s definitely not for wiping up spills. Rather, its bumpy surface is especially designed to clean that dirty keyboard. They require no moistening, come in blue, green, yellow or black and can be imprinted in one or two places. In desk- and laptop versions, it comes with an instructive paper sleeve and is interesting enough to be left on a desk as a quasi-decoration.

np5.jpg (13838 bytes)Sleek And Modern ... Something new in wristwatches? How’s this? This timepiece already sports a clean, fashionable look as far as the face is concerned. But what makes it really unique is the rubberized strap with a snap-lock fastener. It holds just as securely as more conventional clasps, but definitely sets the watch off from anything else others in the room are wearing. It also features an accurate quartz movement, glass crystal, contrasting sweep-second hand and the face takes a clear, sharp imprint. Very nicely packaged, if desired, in a tin that can have a matching imprinted label affixed.

np6.jpg (12443 bytes)It’s Grown Down ... A year or so ago, the “Bucket Boss” was introduced – a heavy canvas, multi-pocketed item that fit inside a standard bucket, instantly turning it into a handy organizer/carrier for tools or whatever. The “Mug Boss” is a precisely scaled-down version designed to fit inside of ... you guessed it ... a standard coffee mug. The mug itself can still be used for pens and pencils, while the outside pockets can accommodate special favorites, small tools, rulers and so on. Made to last a long time, it can, of course, be custom imprinted.

np8.jpg (22229 bytes)Save The Floor ... Not to mention potted plants, unfilled candy dishes, the lawn and even your hands. Despite what’s considered politically correct or on the “out” list by some, there are two facts that remain unchanged – one, a number of people still smoke, and two, deliberately not having ashtrays handy will rarely, if ever, stop them from lighting up. If it’s not a no smoking area, the lighters will be flicking. The “Dalvey” portable ashtray solves the problem efficiently and attractively. It’s a chrome-plated stainless steel ashtray that resembles a pocket watch in appearance and size. It closes tightly enough that it can be carried in any pocket or purse without mishap, and is large enough to accept several cigarette butts – and even a moderate cigar. Handmade in Scotland, no less, it can be imprinted with a logo or message via a plate on top. Of course, it comes gift-boxed.

np7.jpg (9564 bytes)Retro To The Coolest ... If you’re even semi-familiar with vintage pen collecting, you already know. If you’re not, you’re about to know: The hottest items these days are the eye-catching celluloid-barreled fountain pens and mechanical pencils prevalent in the 1920s and ’30s. Unfortunately, the combination of clamoring collectors and the fact that celluloid has a tendency to fall apart over time if improperly stored means that prices of originals in good shape have shot through the ceiling – too high for someone who wants to own one incidentally. The “Monteverde” line of pens are, in function, your basic twist-action ballpoint. In appearance, however, the acrylic resin of the barrels startlingly replicates the masterpieces of 70 and 80 years ago. In several colors and
beautifully gift-boxed.
